The First Saturday votive Mass may be said: “one Mass of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, on the first Saturday of each month, in churches and oratories in which special devotions are held on that day in honor of the Immaculate Heart of Mary” (Rubricæ generales, 385c).

Mass:

First Saturday votive: (White) Mass of August 22 with commemoration of St. Bibiana, Gloria, no Credo, preface of the BVM with Et te in veneratione.

Mass of the day: (Red) Of St. Bibiana, Mass Me expectaverunt, oration proper, Gloria, no Credo.


Breviary:

Matins: Saturday psalms and antiphons, scripture lessons from V week of November, 3rd lesson of the feast, Te Deum.

Lauds: Saturday psalms and antiphons of the 1st scheme, remainder of the feast.

Hours: Saturday psalms and antiphons, remainder of the feast.

ADVENT BEGINS
Change to Volume I of the Breviary.
Before Vespers, the altar is dressed for Advent, without flowers.
The organ does not play except to sustain the choir.

I Vespers: Of I Sunday of Advent, Proper antiphons, Saturday psalms, remainder proper.

Compline: Of Saturday. Antiphon of the BVM is Alma Redemptoris Mater, until Vigil of the Nativity inclusive.
